The Tuskegee Institute Advancement League (TIAL) was organized by students attending Tuskegee Institute. It's purpose was to take action on the issues of civil rights taking place in the 1960's. Sammy Younge Jr. was placed in charge of registering people in the community to vote. Gwen Patton, Tuskegee Institute's first female President of the Student Government Association, was placed in charge of taking action on civil rights issues, protests and demonstrations.
