The Civil Rights Movement in Alabama and the Southern United States had Freedom Fighters from many people groups working for justice and equality to all people, but primarily to the oppressed black population.
Specific organizations began working in small rural areas and in particularly, Tuskegee, Alabama to assist those in the struggle for equality. Two of those groups are the Tuskegee Institute Advancement League (TIAL) and the Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). The Movement continued to develop in the UNITY organization at Tuskegee, and the Tuskegee Institute Community Education Project (T.I.C.E.P.), teaching students how to work to educate the community outside the campus. Helping to get the word out of what was taking place in the South, was a group of reporters working for the Southern Courier. Their articles and photographs told the story of liberation like no one else could. |
